We are collecting your personal data on the legal basis that it is necessary for the performance of a contract to provide you with telecare.

Your data will be shared with any contractors who install and maintain equipment and the telecare response service you may have chosen to use and with your GP if you suffer a fall.

We may collect special category data, for example about your physical or mental health, religion, or any criminal convictions if this is relevant to provide you the service. Where required we would be collecting this special category data on the legal basis that it is necessary for the provision of health or social care and with safeguards in place to protect your data.

LinCare services are optional, and you do not have to participate.

If you provide the personal details of your emergency contacts, then we assume you have done so with their agreement, and we process their information on the basis that this is necessary to perform a task in the public interest with a basis in law being The Care Act 2004. Your emergency contacts have a right to object to this.

 

We will share your data with other agencies or contractors where required and allowed by law. These may include, where relevant, the following.

  • Other departments of City of Lincoln Council including those at other councils
  • GP and healthcare providers
  • Social and welfare advisers or practitioners
  • NHS (National Health Service)
  • The police and criminal justice system
  • DWP (Department of Work and Pensions)
  • HM Customs and Revenue
  • Immigration services
  • Housing associations
  • Fire and rescue services
  • RSPCA
  • Contractors

 

When we share your data, we do so under appropriate information sharing agreements or contracts. Your data may be used for council purposes, in order to prevent or detect crime or where we are required or permitted to share data under other legislation.

Your personal data will be stored securely for six years in line with our retention policy, your information will then be securely destroyed.

You have rights relating to the data we process about you including the right to access this. You also have the right to ask for your data to be corrected, restricted and erased in certain circumstances.
