Allocation of the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2022/23

Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2023 awarded to local good causes

A total of £6,800 from the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2023, raised by supporters of Lincoln Community Lottery, has been awarded to three good causes to help deliver projects to support Lincoln’s residents.

The allocation of the funds follows a resident consultation, which identified Green Spaces and Homelessness as the two priority cause areas for the 2023 fund.

Following an application and selection process led by Voluntary Centre Services and supported by City of Lincoln Council, the successful good causes benefitting from the 2023 fund include:

Mint Lane Cafe

Awarded £3,788.96 to help create a community garden at the Mint Lane Cafe and to deliver a gardening club. The garden and club will offer the chance for participants to make friends and to learn new gardening, cooking, and life skills. With the current cost of living challenges, the focus on growing your own food, reducing food waste, and cooking home grown food will help the local community members to be more resilient and adaptable for the future. LEAP

Awarded £511.04 to help fund Move-in packs for homeless and vulnerable people within Lincoln. The packs will provide customers with essential equipment they need to cook, clean and even sleep when they move into temporary accommodation to help them feel settled and dignified. Upon leaving the temporary accommodation, the Move-in packs will also ensure individuals have the essentials they need to move into their own home. Find out more about LEAP.

Additional cause

One further cause has also been awarded £2,500 to help create a community garden. The community space will be welcoming, safe and open to all members of the community, and will allow residents to build their skills and knowledge of growing local produce, whilst also help to build self-confidence. The space will also aim to improve the mental health of its users and provide skills, which may help users to gain employment. Additionally, the space will provide an area to deliver events and entertainment for families especially during school holidays. Further details on this cause will be communicated once the lease agreement for the area of land where this project will be delivered has been finalised.

Quote from Cllr Sue Burke, Portfolio Holder for Reducing Inequalities

“I would like to congratulate the successful causes and also thank supporters of Lincoln Community Lottery for helping to raise these funds during 2022/23. I look forward to hearing about the success of the projects and activities delivered over the coming year using the fund and the positive impact of these on Lincoln’s residents.

Lincoln Community Lottery is a great way for good causes to raise additional funds to support their work in the city and I would encourage further good causes to join the lottery and utilise this fundraising tool.”
