Project Description
Greyfriars is an internationally important, listed building in the heart of Lincoln dating from the 13th century, in desperate need of repair and a new use.
The project will bring about change by repairing an empty building, making the most of this project to engage the public, stakeholders and those in all levels of education with the heritage of their city. The development will be a heritage attraction with a mix of a digital and tactile, immersive interpretation scheme, temporary exhibitions, events, conferencing and educational activities.
The project legacy will be a valued addition to Lincoln’s heritage tourism offer, helping to generate new and repeat visitors year-round and the rescue of an 800-year-old building from the Heritage at Risk register with as sustainable use which will safeguard it for the future.
Total project cost: £2,132,625
Town Deal funding: £540,000
