Mayoral medals
Mayoral Medals were originally presented by the Mayor to those returning to the city from the First World War thanking them for their service to their country and city. In 1995, we agreed to restore this ancient tradition and present up to six Mayoral Medals annually.
The Mayoral Medals are given to express the thanks of the City of Lincoln to a person who has worked tirelessly for others without any recognition or remuneration. There are many unsung heroes, voluntary workers, charity fundraisers, and organisers of clubs who give up their free time ensuring a better quality of life for others within our city.
You can nominate an individual for a Mayoral Medal here. All nominations will be considered for a Mayoral Medal by the Mayor and Civic Manager. It does not assist a nominee to have several nominations made.
Successful candidates, and their nominators, will be invited to a ceremony in the Guildhall in April, where the Mayoral Medals will be presented by the Mayor.
