Aids and adaptations we offer
We understand that everybody has different needs for their home. We can offer permanent and temporary adaptations to your home to make it easier and more comfortable for you to live there.
Anyone living in a council home can request adaptations if they need them.
We have two different types of aids and adaption services:
Minor adaptations
These are small changes to your home. Some common examples of minor works are:
- Lever taps
- Handrails
- Grab-rails
- Mixer showers
- Concrete half-steps
- Extra external lights
Major adaptations
These are larger changes to your home, such as:
- Ramps
- Stairlifts
- Low level access showers (wet rooms) and over-bath showers
- Hard surfaces and dropped kerbs
- Internal alterations to widen doorways or adapt kitchens
- Extensions
We have an Aids and Adaptations Policy that sets out how we decide requests for these works.

How to apply
You will need a referral from another agency to apply.
