Buildings Insurance for our leaseholders
Under the terms of a lease for flats or maisonettes sold under the Right to Buy Scheme, the Council is required to insure and keep insured the buildings for these properties.
In summary, the insurance provides cover for damage to the structure of your property and its fixtures and fittings caused by the following insurance perils: -
- Fire / Smoke
- Civil commotion
- Lightning
- Malicious damage
- Explosion
- Storm or flood
- Aircraft
- Escape of water
- Earthquake
- Breakage or collapse of aerials
- Subsidence
- Fixed glass & sanitary wear
- Theft
- Impact
- Riot
- Falling trees
- Leakage of oil
- Accidental Damage
The following excesses currently applies to each claim:
- £1,000 subsidence
- £50 all other losses
