City of Lincoln Council is calling on residents to play a vital role in shaping the city’s future by sharing their feedback on the council’s proposals for Vision 2030.
This new strategic plan will guide key priorities and projects over the next five years, ensuring that the council’s goals align with the aspirations and needs of the people it serves.
The main priorities in Vision 2025 are:
- Let’s drive inclusive economic growth
- Let’s reduce all kinds of inequality
- Let’s deliver quality housing
- Let’s enhance our remarkable place
- Let’s address the challenge of climate change
These current priorities have proven effective in supporting the delivery of the long-term vision for the city so far. The proposal is to keep these largely consistent for Vision 2030 as a continuation of Vision 20205 and the City of Lincoln Council aims to further progress these key focus areas to reflect the values, emerging challenges, and opportunities that are unique to Lincoln.
The plan is being developed against a backdrop of changes at a national level. City of Lincoln Council anticipates both policy and financial settlement changes over the coming months and as such have proposed some key actions for the first 12-18 months of Vision 2030 which will then be reviewed. The proposed aspirations and initial key actions are presented in the survey.
Like other councils, City of Lincoln Council faces rising service costs and reduced funding, creating a gap between income and expenditure. To maintain a sustainable financial position, the council’s strategy aims to balance investment in Vision 2030 and its priorities while ensuring that service costs are in line with available funding.
Community feedback is central to developing a plan that truly reflects the priorities of residents, businesses, and organisations alike.
Naomi Tweddle, City of Lincoln Council Leader, emphasised the importance of public engagement in this process:
“Our vision for the future of Lincoln is one that’s shaped by our community, for our community.
“Vision 2030 is about building a place we’re all proud of and, to do that, we need your views.
“I really encourage people to have their say on our proposals and help us ensure the city’s future is a bright, inclusive and sustainable one.”
Residents are urged to review the proposed Vision 2030 aspirations, and key actions for the first 12-18 months and share their feedback through a short online survey available at https://www.lincoln.gov.uk/vision2030consultation. Alternative formats for the survey are available on request from Policy.Unit@lincoln.gov.uk.
The survey will remain open until noon Monday 6th January 2025 and the responses will help the council shape the Vision 2030 plan.
The council’s Vision 2030 is a shared roadmap for building a stronger, more vibrant city that reflects the aspirations of its residents; now is the time to have your say.
