Opportunity to have your say on the allocation of Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2024

Lincoln Cathedral from the high street

City of Lincoln Council and Voluntary Centre Services are consulting with Lincoln Community Lottery supporters and the residents of Lincoln on the allocation of the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2024

A total of £11,335 is available within the 2024 fund to support local projects benefitting residents of Lincoln.

How has the fund been raised?

Of the total funds available for 2024, £8,135 has been raised by supporters of Lincoln Community Lottery between August 2023 and July 2024. Additionally, due to a local good cause not being able to utilise their allocation of the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2023, £3,200 of the 2023 fund has also been added to the 2024 fund for reallocation.

All funds to be allocated have been raised by supporters of Lincoln Community Lottery who have either –

  • selected the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund as their good cause when purchasing tickets – 60 pence of every ticket sold goes towards this fund
  • selected any of the other good causes when purchasing tickets - 10 pence of every ticket sold supports the Community Fund, with a further 50 pence going directly to the supporter’s chosen good cause.

Stages involved in allocating the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2024

The aim of the consultation is to identify the top two good cause areas you would like the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2024 to be allocated to.

The allocation of the Community Fund will involve three key stages.

  • Stage one – Consultation with you, supporters of the lottery/residents, to identify the top two good cause areas you would like the funds to be allocated to.
  • Stage two – Application process where good causes working in these top two areas will be invited to apply for funding to support a specific project/activity benefitting the residents of Lincoln.
  • Stage three – Allocation of the funds to the successful applicants.

Stages two and three will be managed by Voluntary Centre Services (VCS), which is a good cause located in the City of Lincoln. VCS provide support to the community and voluntary sector as a volunteer development agency and a local support and development organisation.

Good cause applications for funding from Lincoln Lottery Community Fund will be invited later this year. Keep a look out on Voluntary Centre Services and the council’s social media channels and websites for information on when the application stage goes live.

Quote from Cllr Sue Burke, Portfolio Holder for Reducing Inequality

“I would like to thank lottery supporters for raising the funds available within the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund 2024. I would encourage supporters of the lottery and Lincoln’s residents to take part in the consultation to have a say on the allocation of this year’s fund. To date, the community fund has supported the delivery of a range of projects in the city to benefit Lincoln’s residents and I look forward to seeing further projects delivered utilising the 2024 fund.”

How last year’s fund is supporting local causes

The Lincoln Lottery Community Fund from 2023 is supporting local projects led by LEAP (Lincolnshire Employment Accommodation Project) and Mint Lane Café aimed at supporting Lincoln’s residents. Additionally, one further cause has secured a share of the fund. Details of this cause will be announced once the lease agreement for the area of land where their project will be delivered has been finalised.

Projects being delivered utilising the 2023 fund include helping to fund move-in packs for homeless and vulnerable people within Lincoln, helping to create community gardens and supporting the delivery of a gardening club.
