Plans for the first set of homes on a new urban extension for Lincoln will be deliberated by City of Lincoln Council later this month.
The plans form part of the Western Growth Corridor development which extends to 240 hectares, and is located to the north of Skellingthorpe Road, have been jointly submitted by landowners Lindum Western Growth Community Ltd and the city council.
In the meeting, three items will be discussed, which will be decided upon by Full Council sitting as Planning Committee on 31 January. These include:
- Detailed plans for the first 52 homes on land owned by City of Lincoln council.
- The application proposes 52 two and 2½ storey dwellings. These include detached, semi-detached and terraced properties of 2, 2½ storeys. The application seeks to approve all of the reserved matters- including the layout of the development, the scale of the dwellings, their appearance, means of access and landscaping. This phase 1A is located directly to the north-east of Skellingthorpe Road, opposite the junction with Birchwood Avenue.
- Plans for a haul road through the Western Growth Corridor site.
- The application seeks permission to build temporary road, a Haul Road, from Skellingthorpe Road, across the length of the Western Growth Corridor site, to the west side of the railway line adjacent to Tritton Road. This road would then be used to transport materials to and from the site of the road bridge over the railway to enable it to be constructed.
- The installation of two new substations for the site.
- There are two substations proposed to serve the first phases of development. The first substation will serve the proposed first 52 homes on land south of the catchwater drain. The second is proposed to be sited near to the access road to the north of the catchwater drain to serve a future phase of housing development (which will be subject to a further planning application).
Full details of the plans can be found here. Members of Full Council sitting as Planning Committee will discuss the plans in detail on 31 January 2023 from 5.30pm.
