Residents and organisations in Lincoln are taking part in a nationwide campaign next week to highlight climate action in Lincoln, ‘Lincoln 2030’ our ambitious target for Lincoln to be net zero carbon by 2030 and #ClimateHopeLincoln.
Starting on Saturday 10 June 2023 and running for a week, the climate action campaign known as the Great Big Green Week will see thousands of people across the UK organising local festivals and events. The campaign aims to draw attention to climate change, destruction of the natural world, while also making a connection with these issues in communities like Lincoln and highlighting how it can help to tackle climate change.
This year, there is a host of activities, both online and offline, to talk about our environment, find out in what small ways you can make a significant difference and how you can feed into local policy and climate action planning.

a ticket only event to learn more about Doughnut Economics to help make a green DEAL* for Lincoln
The week will all be launched by a flash mob on the High Street on Saturday 10 June performed by dance students from the University of Lincoln.
Kirsty Russell, Senior Lecturer, University of Lincoln said “This has been a fantastic opportunity for BA Hons Dance at the University of Lincoln to collaborate with members of the local community on such an important project. Through dance we are raising the profile of Lincoln Green Week and encouraging people to talk about global climate change through the power and value of the arts.”
Cllr Bob Bushell, portfolio holder for addressing the challenge of climate change, said “The Great Big Green Week offers a fantastic opportunity for us all to learn how we can make minor changes that have benefits on our climate. The events provide a space to create conversations about how we can continue to push towards our net zero 2030 target.”
Charlotte Brooks, place coordinator for LocalMotion Lincoln said, “We all have a role to play in climate action. What we decide to do locally and the small choices we make every day can have such an impact on us all, globally. This week is about starting an open conversation with Lincoln about what is already happening and what needs to happen next.
