Tell us about your business?

Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society aims to make life easier for blind, partially sighted and we achieve this by enabling and encouraging independent living through home visiting, the provision of and access to information, equipment and service and the development of community based activities and support.

Our mission statement is “Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society exists to enhance the quality of life of blind, partially sighted and visually impaired people whatever their age and circumstances in life”.

We ensure everyone with a visual impairment gets the same opportunities regardless of their circumstances in life.
All of the activities we undertake are adjusted to the needs of the visual impaired people in the community.

Why did you choose to sign up to the charter?

We signed up as we saw it as a platform to bring socially responsible businesses together. We thought it would help to provides us with ideas on how to look after our employees and volunteers and help us connect with a much wider community. We also saw it as a chance to network and let people know what we are doing and vice versa.

Have you noticed any positive changes since undertaking a range of socially responsible activities?

It has made us focus a little bit more on giving employment and volunteering experiences to local people and ensuring we pay the national living wage as a minimum for all our staff.

Do you have any words for a business looking to sign up to the charter?

I would advise anyone who is thinking of signing up to do so as it is a great network and we can then work collaboratively, having an impact within the community without duplicating work.
