Grounds maintenance and garden service
We aim to make sure where you live is tidy and well maintained, and we do this by maintaining grassed and garden areas to a high standard.
We carry out ground’s maintenance across all our estates, including communal areas outside flats. This includes grass cutting, weeding, and trimming shrubs, trees and hedges.
We do not maintain grass verges at the side of the roads. These are looked after by Lincolnshire County Council.
We will:
- Cut the grass on communal housing land up to 16 times a year, based on weather conditions. We do not collect grass cuttings, but we do make sure pathways are swept or blown
- Spray weeds in communal areas, garage sites, drying areas and footpaths twice a year. This takes taking six to seven weeks
- Spray moss in some communal areas, garage sites, drying areas and footpaths once a year. This takes four to six weeks
- Trim shrubs once a year
- Hoe and weed shrub beds once a month
- Cut hedges around communal areas twice a year
- Prune and tend to all trees on communal housing land where needed
- Trim the edges of communal housing footpaths once a year
- Clear and collect leaves from hard surfaces on some sites at the end of each year
- Create new shrub beds and planting schemes where needed
We carry out work to communal and shared areas only. We will charge tenants for work we do to their gardens.
Garden Service
We know that some tenants may struggle to look after their own gardens because of thinks like age, illness or disability. We understand that many tenants do not have anybody to help them.
We provide a basic garden service to elderly or disabled tenants if they meet at least one of the following:
- Being unable to cut their grass or hedges due to physical disability or frailty
- Supporting one or more disabled children
To qualify you must:
- Have no able-bodied person living within your household
- Have no practical support from any other active family member who lives locally
If you qualify, we can mow your grass and cut your hedges. Grass will be cut up to eight times a year depending on weather conditions. Hedges will be cut up to three times a year.
Other garden work is not normally part of this service.
To apply for this service, contact your housing officer to arrange a visit to assess your needs.
